The tourism sector meets new challenges with vast economical, ecological, social, cultural and political changes. These changes call for swift development actions, they also shape customers’ expectations and quality requirements. Tackling these challenges means creating new operational solutions for responsible tourism.

Regardless of climate change, Finland still has four distinctive seasons in nature, albeit not as clear-cut and dependable as before, each with different opportunities for tourism. The strong seasonality of tourism is one of the challenging aspects needing solutions. Can seasons be extended responsibly? Or how to make each season attractive in a responsible way? What do different dimensions of responsibility mean in practice within four seasons in nature? What each of us can do to act in a more responsible way in tourism business?

Water is essential for life around the globe, and a central natural resource in Finland, this will be one of the topics to be discussed.

The introduced themes will be addressed in keynote presentations, workshops and panel discussions.

Conference is organized by JAMK in cooperation with Hub ICRT, Lahti University of Applied Sciences and Lapland University Consortium; Multidimensional Tourism Institute and ICRT Finland Network
