In close cooperation with our network, we meet the educational needs free of charge for anyone who has had to flee Ukraine due to war and is in Finland in temporary protection.

Bachelor's and Master's Degrees at Jamk

Tuition Fees and Scholarship
Jamk offers a 100 % scholarship for tuition fees for the academic year 2023–2024 to Jamk's degree students who have fled the war in Ukraine and are under temporary protection or have been granted asylum in Finland.
The prerequisite for receiving the 100% scholarship is that the student presents to Jamk's admission services
- a certificate of application for temporary protection
- or a certificate of temporary protection/asylum
- or a residence permit card.
Separate Study Right for students fleeing from Ukraine (UKR), 120 ECTS cr
The separate study right is aimed for students who have fled the war in Ukraine to Finland and have an existing, valid right to study at a Ukrainian higher education institution and whose studies have been interrupted.
Separate study rights are granted on the basis of applicants' former university studies and their comparability to the studies offered by Jamk. Tuition language is English, and students are required to be fluent in oral and written English.
Open Studies at Jamk Free of Charge
During the Academic years 2022 - 2023 and 2023 - 2024 Open Studies in Jamk University of Applied Sciences are free of charge for anyone, who has had to flee Ukraine due to war in the country and is currently in Finland.
Open Studies are available to everyone, irrespective of age and educational background. In Open Studies, you can
- develop your expertise or the knowledge and skills needed in the world of work
- get to know the field of study that you are interested in
- advance your all-round education in your areas of interest
Courses in Open Studies have the same objectives, contents, requirements, and teachers as the courses in our degree programmes. However, you cannot complete the whole degree in Open Studies. If you are admitted as a degree student later, your studies can be credited in a degree at Jamk.
Free-of-charge studies for people who have fled Ukraine and are in Finland with temporary protection -status
Courses in Jamk Open Studies are free for people who have fled Ukraine and are in Finland with temporary protection -status.
Instructions:
- Get acquainted with the open studies.
- Enrol: On the electronic form, check the box next to ‘other’ and write ‘UKR’ in the additional information field. Bypass online payment (you can close the page in the online payment section)
- Verify your eligibility for free-of-charge studies within a day by using secure email (link below), message to avoinamk(at)jamk.fi. Enter the title “Certificate for free-of-charge studies” and in the message section the studies / study module for which you have enrolled. You can verify your eligibility by sending an image or scanned document of
- the document that you have received from the Finnish police when you applied for temporary protection or asylum
- or the decision of temporary protection
- or your residence permit card
NOTE! Always submit a certificate when registering for a new course!
International Cooperation
In accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Culture as well as EU guidelines, all Jamk’s project activities and cooperation with Russia have been suspended.
Jamk’s Ukraine Group
The Ukraine Group coordinates the needs, measures and information related to the crisis in Ukraine. The group is chaired by Rector Vesa Saarikoski.
