Launching and planning
In March 2020, the Beihua project team conducted a face-to-face discussion to promote the progress of WP 2.2. The topic of the discussion was to review the current progress of the relevant research work and to study the feedback of the course/syllabus analysis with the aim of planning the work of the project team. Due to the impact of COVID-19, each WP of the project has been mainly carried out through remote work and online communication and discussion among the partner universities. This phased offline discussion is of positive significance for advancing the project progress.
1st TtT training in Beihua: Capacity building of teachers based on competence- and evidence-based nursing education
From September 14 to 18, 2020, Beihua successfully hosted the Train-the-Trainer (TtT) programme “Capacity building of teachers based on competence- and evidence-based nursing education” with 30 teacher participants from the GeNEdu partner institutions.
The training was facilitated by experts from JAMK (Finland) and THCC (Estonia). The key content was to discuss how to implement evidence-based practice in nursing education. During the training, the teachers learned how to seek evidence-based teaching materials and familiarized with new methods of teaching and evaluating nursing students. They also learned to develop new teaching implementation methods.
I have gained a lot in two aspects from this training. First, I have further understood the concept of competence-based and evidence-based education. The teaching method adopted in this training itself emphasizes the trainees' guidance and capacity building. It is truly "student-centered"! Second, it is about teaching methods and evaluation. In this training, you can say "tired and happy"! This "tired" is "fullness." Lecturing, group work, presentations, reading relevant materials after class, completing and submitting homework. This teaching format gave me some new thinking about the content and methods of my teaching work. The connotation and significance of teaching evaluation also have been updated, and I learned and familiarized myself with the assessment method in competence-based education.
Finally, during the whole training process, the six universities from four countries shared resources, studied and discussed, complemented each other's strengths, and enhanced friendship. Frankly speaking, my personal gains this time exceeded expectations. I am looking forward to the next online or offline encounter and learning!

It was my fortune to participate in the " Capacity building of teachers based on competence- and evidence-based nursing education " (GeNEdu project) in Beihua. The workshop has set up a good platform for us to communicate, cooperate and make progress together, so that each of us is not walking alone. In this thinking collision process, we are deeply inspired by the training, have a deeper and wider understanding of competence-based teaching, and are full of confidence in updating the nursing curriculum and training professional nursing staff for future elderly nursing education. At the same time, I am especially grateful to Beihua University for the meticulous organization of this training, which provides us with experience we can learn from. Looking forward to seeing you again.

The GeNEdu project adopted an online + offline training method and conducted two special trainings for gerontological nursing teachers from Chinese partner universities. The two trainings focused on competence-based & evidence-based learning, student -centered teaching method, online teaching methods, assessment methods, as well as person-centered nursing, family care, and community care, and further discussed multi-disciplinary gerontological nursing and related topics. The participating teachers from our school studied hard, thought positively, cooperated with each other, completed the group work and presentations carefully, finished the training report, achieved a profound understanding and reflection of the training, and now strive to apply the learning results to their teaching activities.
