2015 was an excellent year for EduCluster Finland Ltd. The company’s turnover increased to nearly eight million euros. 

The turnover was 40% higher than in the previous year, and the profits improved by 30%. The company’s order book is currently worth more than €18 million.

EduCluster Finland Ltd is one of Finland’s leading companies in education exports. Its main markets are the Persian Gulf area, East Asia and South America. ECF has branch offices in Doha, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as well as an office in Shanghai, China. The company’s clients are interested in schools modelled after the Finnish comprehensive school in their own countries, in increasing the professional skills of teachers and educational institute management and in the precision development of their country’s educational system in the Finnish way. A strongly growing business area is exporting vocational education competence.

– Ever since the company was established, its owners – the University of Jyväskylä, JAMK University of Applied Sciences and the Jyväskylä Educational Consortium – have been determined to commercialise Finnish education expertise. The results show that the company is moving steadfastly in this direction. The company’s good performance also means that the Board of Directors can propose to this year’s Annual General Meeting that more dividends be paid than before, says Tarja Pietiläinen, Chair of the Board.

– In the past five years, we have gained a strong foothold in the Persian Gulf area. Key steps have been taken in China together with Finnish partners, says Jan-Markus Holm, CEO of the company.

EduCluster Finland creates new opportunities for employment and the strengthening of international expertise. In 2015, more than 150 people worked in the company’s international operations.

The main owner of EduCluster Finland Ltd is the University of Jyväskylä, and the other owners are JAMK University of Applied Sciences and the Jyväskylä Educational Consortium.
