In March 2016, JAMK, University of Jyväksylä and Jyväskylä Municipal Education Consortium signed an agreement on cooperation that will be deeper and more goal-oriented than before, providing a unique operating model by covering various levels of education. Later in the year, an agreement on establishing a centre of excellence for the rehabilitation field was also made.

The purpose of the centre of excellence called EduFutura Jyväskylä is to form the most prominent Finnish concentration of expertise in learning, research, development, experimentation and application related to the leading-edge fields in the area.  The international leading-edge fields have been defined to be the development of learning, health, rehabilitation, well-being and exercise, and education exports. The national leading-edge fields are the Finnish Music Campus, promotion of entrepreneurship, applied cyber security and bioeconomy.

The agreement promotes educational cooperation between sectors in Jyväskylä. The Finnish Music Campus is already providing more study opportunities for students. Students and teachers from a variety of units are also already working together to implement the entrepreneurship strategy.

At EduFutura, the student is at the centre of everything.  The shared goal is to provide students with efficient and flexible study paths by, for example, ensuring smooth transitions and accreditation practices between levels of education, developing pedagogic methods, reducing overlapping education and carrying out joint implementations.

EduFutura is aiming to achieve positive effects on general and student employment, as well as an increased mobility of experts in Finland, abroad and between institutes, through new business and stronger business models based on high-level competence. The goal of the cooperation is to make EduFutura Jyväskylä a more agile and easily approachable partner for business in the future.
