The construction management programme continues

In January, the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Construction Management was initiated for the second time in Jyväskylä, in cooperation by Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences and JAMK. The part-time education will be held on JAMK main campus. Each month includes one week of contact education from Monday to Friday, while at other times, the studies are arranged remotely.

The construction management programme aims to prepare the students for worksite tasks. A Bachelor of Construction Management can work as a foreman, site manager, construction supervisor or construction inspector, for example. Construction managers have also established many prominent and successful construction companies. The education provides an excellent foundation for entrepreneurship. Newly-graduated construction managers are likely to have good career prospects, as construction companies in the Jyväskylä region have been very enthusiastic about the implementation of the degree programme.

FINCSC certificate developed by the Institute of Information Technology verifies cyber security

Developed at the JAMK Institute of Information Technology, the Finnish Cyber Security Certificate (FINCSC) is now available for assessing the level of cyber security in organisations. The certification system is suitable for all kinds of organisations, regardless of their type, size or line of business. Before this, Finland has not had a light-weight and cost-efficient way for SMEs to demonstrate to their customers and partners that the foundation of their cyber security arrangements is in order.

“These days, functional and reliable services are vital to entrepreneurs. For this reason, the FINCSC certification is a significant competitive factor for companies. It is an indication that cyber security has been taken into account in the company’s operations. Especially when entering the international markets, data security certification is all but an absolute necessity,” says Mika Karjalainen, Lecturer of Cyber Security at the JAMK Institute of Information Technology. The certification was implemented in December 2016, and it has already been completed by 22 companies.
