Welcome to our Cloud Services Expert programme

The programme is completely online, so you don’t need to travel anywhere to study – all you need is a computer and the capability to study in English!

The programme is free for people who have applied for temporary protection and for unemployed people living in Finland. For other applicants the open studies fees apply, meaning 10 € / credit. The study fees are paid online when enrolling.

The programme helps you get a detailed understanding about how the Cloud Environments work, bettering your chances in getting employed - for example in the field of ICT. If you’re not yet aiming to enter the working life and are instead looking to get your higher education, the programme will help you get a strong basis to programmes such as ICT and Business Information Technology.

The students will have online support available during their studies (1 session / week). The support is offered through Teams. Links and additional info will be made available in the course info.

The programme is organized in co-operation by to Finnish universities of applied sciences - Jamk univeristy of applied sciences and Centria university of applied sciences and funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.

Courses

Cloud fundamentals (Amazon Web Services) 5 ECTS

Cloud services offer several ways to build and utilise different platforms and services to form environments to run modern digital services on.

Cloud Fundamentals (Amazon Web Services) course is intended for students who seek an overall understanding of cloud computing concepts, independent of specific technical roles. It provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS core services, security, architecture, pricing, support and continuous integration and deployment.

After completing the course, you will be familiar with the processes, methods and tools related to the building applications in the cloud. You are able to set up and use an appropriate cloud based services or platforms using the tools covered in the course.

Data and reporting in the cloud  (Amazon Web Services) 5 ECTS 

Data and reporting in the cloud course is designed to help students learn about and get hands-on practice with the tasks, tools, and strategies used to collect, store, prepare and transform, analyze, and visualize data for use in analytics and machine learning applications. 
 
In the course, you will learn how that data needs to be edited and processed to suitable formats, so that it can be used in business in useful ways. As you complete this lesson, you will have learned the possibilities of data processing (Extract, Transform, Load) and will familiarized yourself with the tools to edit data into various formats needed by different systems or services. You will also learn to visualize the data for analytical purposes.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning in the cloud (Amazon Web Services) 5 ECTS

This course introduces students to the concepts and terminology of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). By the end of this course, students will be able to select and apply ML services to resolve business problems. They will also be able to label, build, train, and deploy a custom ML model.
 
In the course, the students will familiarise and utilise artificial intelligence and machine learning services with image- and optical character recognition and forecasting services in the cloud. The course enables students to understand the potential of cloud-based AI and machine learning services in a digital operating environments.

Finnish language and culture, 5 ECTS 

Unlike the other courses, which are open for conduct 24/7, the Finnish language and culture course will consist of online contact teaching! This way the students will get the best results out of the humancentric course topic. Because of this the course will have a set start and end dates during the year - the first course will start in February 2023 and the next in September 2023. Two courses will also be organized in 2024.

 

Course description:

You will learn the basics of Finnish phonetics and language structure (present tense verbs, sentence structure). You will be able to use basic phrases and vocabulary in everyday situations (e.g. shopping, dining in restaurants). You will be able to tell about yourself, your family and free time activities. You will be introduced to the typical features of the Finnish culture and way of life.

You will learn to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases; introduce yourself and others; ask and answer questions about personal details such as where you live, people you know and things you have. 

You will study  knowledge of the basics of Finnish phonetics; language structure; language learning strategies; the typical features of the Finnish culture and way of life.

Introduction to information technology and cloud development, 5 ECTS

This course prepares students to learn about information technology. The course briefly explains its history, core concepts, programming and the internet. The course also gives students basic knowledge of using console tools, which are sometimes required when cloud services are used. After completing the course students have knowledge to proceed to basic information technology studies.

Cloud fundamentals (Azure), 5 ECTS

Students learn about basic cloud computing concepts and why cloud services are used. The course focuses around the core concepts of Azure cloud, its architecture, services and products. After completing the course students are familiar with the most common Azure solutions and the basic management of them. Students also learn basics of how security and privacy are in managed in Azure, and students can create and manage Azure subscriptions.

Azure administration, 5 ECTS

After completing the course students have basic skills for Azure administration. Students know prerequisites which apply for Azure administration, they can manage identities in Azure and do basic governance. Students can work with storage products and manage them. After the course students are also able to deploy and manage Azure compute resources as well as configure and manage virtual networks for Azure administrators. The course also teaches students to monitor and back-up Azure resources.

Developing IoT solutions with Azure, 5 ECTS

In this course students learn how to use Azure IoT services and products that relate to the field. After completing the studies they can manage devices in Azure cloud and also implement two-way communication for IoT solutions. After completing the course student can also store messages from IoT devices and enable access to IoT data for external services. During the course students will build their own IoT service.
