Objectives
After completing the course you understand the content and significance of human resource management from the perspective of managerial work and organizational performance. You can apply the knowledge in the field of tourism leading to profitable business and well-being of the personnel. You reflect your potential or achieved readiness in management role, share experiences and develop skills and understanding further.

Learning objectives
You identify your potential in management role, share experiences and skills. You understand the meaning of human resource management in an organization operating in the field of tourism. You identify key HR processes and principles that lead to profitable business and employee well-being. You describe the requirements set by employment law and collective agreement for rota planning and work safety. You give examples of ways to promote equality and non-discrimination in the work community.
Implementation methods
The teaching during the course will proceed by themes.
Introduction lectures to the themes and learning assignments.
Independent study and theme-specific individual and/or group work learning assignments.
Group discussions and peer learning in the lectures/classroom learning.
Visiting lecturers
Guidance will be available during the course as follows:
Introductions and guidance to themes and learning assignments
Guidance of group discussions and group work
Personal feedback on the final assignment
The grade for the course is based on the personal final assignment.

Basics of business functions (entrepreneurship, management, marketing, accounting), responsible tourism

During the course, theme-specific introductions at classroom sessions, independent and group study will alternate. See the timetable of the lectures at https://lukkarit.peppi.jamk.fi/#/schedule by using the name of the course or course code MT00CI58-3001.
Prerequisites: Basics of business functions (entrepreneurship, management, marketing, accounting), responsible tourism.

Also notice that you cannot enroll in Open University courses if you are a degree student at Jamk (enrollment in Peppi).
