Content

During the course you will learn about basic concepts related to digital photo- and videography, such as exposure, lighting, compositing, editing, and producing. You will learn how to control these features in practice with a DSLR-camera. Planning a photoshoot and creating a script for video production are also covered. You will have access to software tools which are commonly used in professional productions.

Objectives

In the Digital Photography & Video Production course you will learn how to create high quality digital photographs and videos with a DSLR-camera. You will understand how to apply photo- and videography techniques in different situations, how to organize photo- and video shoots, and how to work on a photo/video set.

Business competence: The student understands the meaning of contracts, offers, licenses and copyrights in his or her own work.

The learning objectives of the course:
After completing the course you will understand how a DSLR-camera works. You will be able to produce technically and aesthetically valid digital photographs and videos as well as use necessary editing softwares. You will also understand the digital photo-and videography workflows.

Implementation methods

In this course the student will become familiar with operating a DSLR-camera through practical assignments, both in photography and video production. The course will be delivered as contact lectures and workshops as well as weekly individual assignments. During the course the student will strengthen their knowledge about digital media production both from aesthetic and technical standpoints.

The course will be executed as weekly contact lessons and weekly independent assignments. Assignments and learning materials related to each topic will be delivered on a weekly basis. The course is suitable for students from any degree programme.
