Content

The route studies will include studies of the 1st year International Business degree programme.

Objectives

During route studies 1 and 2, the goal is to complete at least 50 credits from the first year of degree studies. After this, it is possible to continue with second-year studies.

Prerequisites

Completing the route studies requires the following study skills: the ability to work independently; interaction and teamwork skills; proficient writing skills; basic IT skills (computer use, word processing, email, and online services); and sufficient language proficiency (at least Finnish at B2 level and the ability to study materials in English).

Target group: For those who aim at the degree programme in International Business.

Goal: By completing the route studies, you can apply through the open route and enter the degree studies without entrance exams. After completing 50 ECTS credits in the Open University of Applied Sciences (UAS), the student can apply for the Degree Programme via Open Route. Please note that accredited studies cannot be recognised in 50 ECTS credits.

Content: The route consists of first year International Business degree studies. During the first year, you will concentrate on the fundamentals of business, such as the basics of marketing, management, finance and accounting, communication and research. You will acquire the theoretical foundation of the business world, which helps you to understand business practices in global contexts.

It is highly recommended to include Finnish language studies into your first year study plan.
The final number of credits may vary if support courses are needed.

Due to the timing of optional and elective courses, credit accumulation per semester / academic year may vary.

Exclusively for route studies 1 students there will be route studies 2 next spring, enrollment will be from 21 October to 3 November 2026.

Please make sure with your tutor teacher during your studies that you will receive a minimum of 50 credits needed for applying for degree studies via Open Route during the academic year (route studies 1 and 2).

Accomplishment: Full-time route studies have an 80 % attendance requirement. Your studies will start with orientation programme in August. There is a full programme during the orientation week.
