Why Do We Study Guidance?

Lifelong guidance is a key instrument in supporting individuals and society in navigating changes in the labour market and skills development. It helps people identify their strengths and opportunities, develop competences, manage transitions smoothly, and build meaningful educational and career pathways.

In the context of lifelong guidance, professional competence is broadly based on multi-channel guidance delivery, systemic development, and continuous professional reflection. Multi-channel competence includes not only theoretical knowledge but also mastery of communication skills and guidance methodologies. Systemic development requires an understanding of how guidance organisations, collaboration structures, and networks evolve to meet the growing and changing needs for guidance.
