Making Restoration Attractive and Feasible in Central Finland

Project Objective

The aim of the project is to promote sustainable development and climate-, nature-, and water-friendly methods in the restoration and after-use of peatlands that are being phased out of peat production. It also aims to improve practical skills, planning and supervision work, and project management skills related to these goals. The project also promotes the restoration of low-yield peatland forests and enhances positive environmental impacts on catchment areas degraded by peat production. By restoring low-yield peatland forests, these areas can be kept out of peat production.

The project addresses the need to find sustainable solutions for the after-use of decommissioned peat production areas and low-yield peatland forests. The project supports restoration work with concrete measures.
