Project description

New Innovations in Promoting Physical Activity

The project is part of JAMK University of Applied Sciences' Likes' research and innovation (LTI) project. The purpose of the project is to renew communication and campaigning about Finnish sport/physical activity through research and education. The project aims to enhance understanding of the interaction between physical activity and mental well-being and to develop new ways to influence everyday culture of physical activity and mental well-being within the environment of higher education. The project also involves initiating and strengthening network collaboration with professionals and stakeholders who potentially can reach inactive population groups. The project consists of the following sections:

1. Researching communication on Finnish sport/physical activity and disseminating multidiscplinary knowledge within networks of communicators who work in promoting sport/physical activity.

2. Examining the impact of psychological phenomena on physical activity and applying this knowledge to support mental well-being and promote physical activity.

3. Developing a culture that supports physical activity and mental well-being within the environment of higher education. Through these measures, we aim to enhance the well-being skills of students and staff of Jamk, enabling them to take care of their work and functional capacity throughout their study and career paths.

4. Initiating and strengthening the network collaboration with professionals and stakeholders, such as family center operators, who potentially can reach inactive population groups.
