Project description
At the heart of the 'Gen AI Pioneers' project is the exploration of how generative artificial intelligence can be utilized in product development, innovation processes, and the creation of innovations. The project investigates the use of generative AI in product development and innovation activities from the perspective of pioneering companies, as well as the type of leadership and capabilities it requires.
The project stems from the need to enhance the understanding and skills of company leadership and staff in leveraging generative AI for product development, innovation processes, and innovation creation. Companies have identified a need for a human-centered model of AI development and leadership—one that supports creativity, commercialized innovations, and sustainable growth while anticipating future needs.
We study advanced practices of pioneering companies both in Finland and abroad. Through these, we generate new scientific insights into the use of generative AI in innovation activities and address ethical questions related to AI. The project produces research-based knowledge, recommendations, and tools for utilizing AI in business development, growth, and leadership. We engage in international research collaboration to identify progressive approaches and best practices (including in the USA, Spain, and Ireland).
From the employees' perspective, the project supports resilience and well-being. By developing leadership capabilities, teams become more prepared to utilize AI and more curious about new technologies. The project's actions and outputs help companies and policymakers anticipate the impacts of AI development on their operations.
