The project's main aim is to increase the capacity of our Nepalese partners' teacher education faculties.

Output 1: Newly designed Master's programme on 21st century pedagogy

The programme is focusing on digital skills, digital pedagogy, guidance and counselling, and critical thinking.

Output 2: Two further study modules for Guidance and Counselling

A taught-in-presence module for classroom use and a MOOC online resource which students can access anywhere and anytime.

Output 3: Workshops and training for educational staff at provincial and local government levels

Project results

The project continues to
progress well although it is still hampered by the lack of face-to-face consortium-level
meetings. This year has seen the development of Output 1 masters-level
programmes in both TU and NOU. Despite the continuing difficulties, the
co-creation teams have worked as well as can be expected under difficult
circumstance. Both programmes have achieved the first stage in the respective
accreditation process and, as the year-end approaches, are very close to completing
the second stage. Output 2 has likewise progressed and has also achieved the
first step in accreditation with co-creation teams working in harness. Planning
for Output 3 began in the autumn and work will continue in earnest in January 2022.
NOU faced some leadership challenges in the second half of the year, which was
initially problematic. The tenure of the Vice Chancellor ended, as did that of
the Registrar, and the Dean of the Faculty of Education retired. Due the
vagaries of politics, suitable appointments were not made quickly to replace
these individuals, which lead to a lack of leadership in the institution.
Having since been able to appoint individuals to assume these key roles, albeit
in a temporary capacity, staff worked hard to recover lost time.
