More Sustainable Thermowood Production – Lunawood seeks new ways to utilise wood dust through Innovation Call
The business accelerator BioBoosters, in collaboration with Lunawood, a provider of sustainable and long-lasting wood products, has launched an innovation call to discover new applications for thermowood dust. The call is open until 29 September 2025.

The call's goal is to find a solution that is sustainable, logistically efficient, and commercially viable while supporting Lunawood’s commitment to sustainable development and its responsibility programme.
“We want to promote the utilisation of wood-based by-products and the circular economy. We are excited to see the results of the innovation challenge,” says Pauliina Tynkkynen, Sustainability Manager at Lunawood. “Thermowood dust has previously been used, for example, in the seating of the renovated Helsinki Olympic Stadium, but it certainly has potential for other use cases as well,” she adds.
Companies selected in the challenge will present their solutions at a workshop held at Lunawood’s factory in Iisalmi on 29 October 2025, where the potential for collaboration will be explored.
International networking and visibility for participants
The innovation call participants will have the opportunity to test new ideas with a significant potential client and develop the commercialisation potential of their concepts. Ideally, participants will discover new business opportunities with Lunawood.
The challenge is organised in cooperation with the BioBoosters network, which focuses on bio-circular economy innovations in the Baltic Sea region. This offers participants excellent opportunities for international networking and collaboration with other companies and experts in the field.
Best from Dust – Lunawood Innovation Challenge
The challenge is primarily aimed at companies, but is open to anyone with a relevant idea that meets the evaluation criteria. Teams may consist of members from a single organisation or be formed specifically for this challenge across organisational boundaries.
Participation is free of charge and non-binding.
