What happens when five people from different countries are placed in the same workgroup?

The New Math of Multicultural Workgroups is an educational video with teaching notes. It provides teachers and students at high school and university levels with a compelling case study in multicultural education.

Different cultures - common groupwork?

Students and teachers alike will benefit from alternative perspectives gained through viewing and discussing this research-informed portrayal of a typical small workgroup activity in multicultural contexts.

The video portrays a fictitious group work project comprising five university students from different nations. The story is set at JAMK University of Applied Sciences (JAMK) in Central Finland.

The teacher portrayed in the story is new to the field of teaching, and all of the actors in the video are teachers or students at JAMK. The challenges portrayed in the film by students and teachers are informed by empirical research conducted at JAMK and at universities around the world.

Duration of the video: 45 minutes. The spoken language of the video is primarly English with English subtitles provided for dialogue spoken in Finnish, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Price and shipping

 You can buy the DVD for 100 euros (VAT 0%) per copy and ships from Finland by regular post.

If you are a company or a private individual living in Finland, or a private individual living elsewhere in the EU, we will add 24% VAT to your invoice.

If you are a company located in the EU, outside of Finland, and you provide a VAT number, we will not add VAT to your invoice, and you are required to pay the VAT yourself. If your company does not provide a VAT number we will add 24% VAT to your invoice.

f you are a company or a private person residing outside of the EU, we will not add VAT to your invoice and you are responsible for any import duty or taxation in your own country.
