How to Apply

Check out the steps below to apply for a study abroad period at the JAMK School of Business

Step 1: See what´s on offer

Check the list of available courses agreed with your home university.

When you find courses that suit your studies, please write down all the courses you want to take. You will need this list when you fill in the online application (step 2).

Step 2: Fill in the Study Abroad Application

Get that list of courses you made during step one. You´re going to need it when filling out the application.

Once you have decided on which courses you will take, please send an email with your first and last names to Mrs. Olga Afanaseva - olga.afanaseva(at)jamk.fi. Following that, you will receive an email with a private link. Follow the link to submit your application. You can modify your application through the same link, if you want to make any changes.

Learning agreement
After the nomination of your home institution you’ll get an individual enrolment link to your e-mail. Please fill it carefully. This Learning Agreement can still be changed during the first orientation week at Jamk. Deadline 15.5.2019.

Step 3: Send your supporting Application Documents

After completing step 2, send the following documents to Mr. Risto Korkia-Aho, risto.korkia-aho(at)jamk.fi to complete your application:

  • Copy of passport
  • Copy of your study transcript of records
  • If your home institution requires their own specific Learning Agreement, please upload it with your own and your home institution signatures.

Step 4: Acceptance

The letter of acceptance and practical information will be sent:

  • For study abroad starting in the autumn, by the beginning of June at the latest
  • For study abroad starting in the spring semester, by the end of November at the latest.

Arrival for an exchange period at JAMK
How to get from Helsinki to Jyväskylä?
Jyväskylä is located about 250 km from the capital of Finland, Helsinki. We recommend to take a train or bus from Helsinki to Jyväskylä. Websites with information on the schedules and costs are available at:
• Railways: www.vr.fi
• Bus: www.matkahuolto.fi OR www.onnibus.com

You may also fly from Helsinki to Jyväskylä Airport, but as the airport is about 25 km outside of the city, be prepared to pay for a taxi (around 60 EUR) from the airport to the city as there are no shuttle buses. Taxis accept credit cards or cash.

When to arrive and who will meet you upon arrival?
If you are planning to arrive in Jyväskylä during a weekend or on a public holiday you should be aware that most of the services and institutions you need are closed (bank, accommodation service, school etc.) and it is difficult to run any urgent matters. That is why we recommend you to arrive on business days: from Monday to Friday during the daytime if at all possible!
The tutors will get in touch with you after you have received the official letter of acceptance from JAMK. You should then confirm your arrival date and time by e-mail to your tutor no later than three weeks before the arrival. Your tutor will meet you upon arrival (assuming that you arrive on business day during the daytime and have confirmed your arrival date and time to your tutor). Please make sure you arrive in Jyväskylä in time for the orientation.
