Become an expert in sports business and create an exciting career in the growing industry of sports and adventure economics! You will get to know the field of sports from the business perspective. Topics to be studied include e.g. sport marketing, sport management, sport events management and sports finance.

Sponsorship, branding and event production

During your studies, you will be able to participate in national and international research projects related to sport events, and you will be doing internships in sports organizations. The studies enable also collaboration and development for example with your own sports club. For top-level athletes at the national level, these studies provide a flexible way to combine sport and studies.
You can study parts of your studies abroad. As a sport business student, you can even apply for an exchange for one semester or take part in various short term abroad projects.

Research in Neste Oil Rally

For several years, students have been conducting research at Neste Oil Rally, in Jyväskylä. Examples of research topics:
- Economic impact of the rally event to the surrounding region.
- Non-Spectator survey explored why "non-customers" did not attend the event and factors that motivated potential customers to participate.
- Customer experience of Neste Oil Rally's new Rally Zone, as well as its satisfaction with the event.

Publication of Neste Oil Rally

Sport Business School (Rasku, R. & Ahonen, A. eds) has published book on the Neste Oil Rally, describing how Business Intelligence is appilied in sporting events:
“Sport Business Intelligence - Case WRC Neste Oil Rally Finland” brought together the studies conducted in 2011-2014. The articles in the book deal with the development of the rally and the research findings from different perspectives. The book was commissioned by rally organizer AKK Sports Oy and the book's commentaries and articles have been written by several international experts together with some student papers.

The authors included Juha Kankkunen, four-time world champion in rallying, Jarmo Mähönen, Director of FIA World Championships, Tiina Lehmonen, Managing Director of AKK Sports Oy, and Sirpa Tuomi, Marketing Director of Neste Oil Corporation.
Academic texts have been produced by a number of international sport marketing experts from Finland, the United States, South Africa and Portugal. The book was edited by JAMK senior lecturers Risto Rasku and Aila Ahonen.
