Challenging but enjoyable IB

""The possibilities and experiences I gained were often challenging, which I enjoy - I learned problem solving on an individual basis, but more importantly I learned it on a team and group basis which is necessary in my current position.""

I graduated in May 2015 from the International Business degree programme at JAMK. I specialized in High Tech Management and Cross-Cultural Management which allowed me to combine an interest in a more technical and structural oriented area with inter- and cross-cultural perspectives, in which we find ourselves on a daily basis.

I have been living in Finland two years prior starting my studies: I am originally from Germany and pursued education in becoming a media operator in the field of digital print media back home, which has supported my studies at JAMK to a good extent. I started studying at JAMK in order to widen my own expertise enabling me to have job opportunities in Finland and especially Jyväskylä. By being proactive and encouraged by the extensive support and network system at JAMK, I received many great opportunities through my studies. Stand-outs were a one-week research trip to St. Petersburg, Russia and presenting my own research as part of the Teaching and Learning Across Cultures research project, which included my own Bachelor’s thesis, at an international conference of SIETAR Europa, the Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research, in Valencia, Spain. I always tried to in-weave my own interest fields in my studies throughout my time at JAMK.

The possibilities and experiences I gained were often challenging, which I enjoy - I learned problem solving on an individual basis, but more importantly I learned it on a team and group basis which is also necessary in my current position of a sales and marketing assistant at a local Jyväskylä company in the field of modern sports and wellness technology as well as in my studies of gaining a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
