Project description
The Profitability and Sustainability through Technology (TeknoKS) -project helps farmers in Central Finland make better use of technology, data, and precision agriculture in farm management, decision-making, and production development. The aim is to provide practical and unbiased information on the benefits, costs, and suitability of new solutions for different types of farms.

The project organizes information events, webinars, field demonstration days, small-group activities, and study tours, enabling farmers to explore technologies in practice and learn from the experiences of their peers. Participants can, for example, learn how to utilize satellite and crop data for fertilizer planning, compare the economic impacts of precision farming practices, assess the suitability of new crops for their own farms, and explore opportunities related to biogas production, nutrient recycling, and circular economy solutions.

The project also promotes collaboration and networking among farmers. Through small-group activities and study visits, participants can exchange experiences, develop joint operating models, and identify opportunities for collaborative purchasing, shared machinery use, and the testing of new cultivation practices.

A key objective of the project is to support the adoption of new technological solutions, innovative cultivation techniques, and new crop species, while strengthening cooperation between farms and other stakeholders. The expected benefits include improved farm profitability, more efficient use of resources, reduced environmental impacts, enhanced food security and resilience, and more sustainable agricultural production systems.
