Project description

The number of senior citizens in Finland is expected to increase significantly in the coming years. Public services have already been reduced and are expected to continue shrinking, especially in rural and sparsely populated areas. This creates challenges in ensuring adequate services that support well-being and safety, making it harder for senior citizens to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

The Senioridigi project aims to address this societal trend by leveraging the latest technological solutions, including devices and applications. The project promotes active, independent, and safe living at home for senior citizens and expands the range of available services by increasing awareness of home-based technologies. Solutions are presented in an easy-to-understand and engaging way, and participants have the opportunity to try the technologies themselves with expert guidance. As a result, an increasing number of senior citizens in rural and sparsely populated areas are becoming familiar with and learning to use technology in their daily lives.

The primary target group of the Senioridigi project includes senior citizens living in rural and sparsely populated areas of Central Finland, family caregivers, relatives and friends of senior citizens, and other adults. The indirect target group consists of Finnish rural residents and other stakeholders who benefit from the opportunities offered by new technologies.
