Project
Preparedness and Growth – New Opportunities
Project sponsors
Today's businesses operate in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing environment. Geopolitical tensions, cybersecurity threats, supply chain disruptions, and growing security requirements highlight the importance of resilience and preparedness. The VAKAA project helps companies in Central Finland strengthen their competitiveness, operational reliability, and capacity for sustainable growth in times of change.
The project provides micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises with practical opportunities to develop their security leadership, risk management capabilities, and ability to identify new business opportunities. The goal is to build skills and competencies that support both everyday operations and long-term business success.
Participating companies will benefit from a variety of learning and development activities, including interactive webinars, workshops, company-specific development pathways, peer learning, and an innovative digital simulation environment. Through realistic simulations, participants can safely practice decision-making and crisis management in authentic scenarios. In addition, an AI-assisted learning service will support continuous competence development throughout the project.
During the project, companies will create practical tools to support their operations, such as risk management plans, security procedures, and digital competence badges. At the same time, their resilience, adaptability, and ability to capitalize on security-related business opportunities will be strengthened.
The project will engage approximately 125 participants from 32 companies representing a range of industries across Central Finland. VAKAA supports the regional strategy for comprehensive security and contributes to sustainable growth, internationalization, and security of supply in the region.
The project is implemented by JAMK University of Applied Sciences from 1 October 2026 to 31 January 2029.
Funding
The project is funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) through the Renewing and Competent Finland 2021–2027 Programme.
