Project description

Increasingly in many professions, communication and interaction skills are becoming essential workplace skills. However, for students requiring special support, these skills can be an obstacle to employment. At the same time, young people spend a lot of time in gaming worlds, where they communicate fluently with others regardless of language, gender, ethnic background, or challenges related to communication and interaction in everyday life.

The project develops Gamified Learning Metaverses, i.e., Learningverse that utilize familiar multiplayer gaming platforms such as Minecraft, Roblox, and Fortnite, but also the latest technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and artificial intelligence (AI).

What is being done in the project?

1. Building and piloting Gamified Learning Metaverses, which will be introduced into teaching in the education of students requiring special support.

2. Developing the working life and interaction skills students requiring special of support by utilizing pedagogically Gamified Learning Metaverses.
3. Promoting the employment of students requiring special of support in Central Finland
by strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and local companies through Learning Metaverses.

In the fall of 2027, two workshops will be held, one of which will be an open event at Jamk's premises in Jyväskylä. The workshop will provide information on how to utilize the Gamified Learning Environment, how to build content for the environment, and the tools used. In addition, representatives from educational institutions and companies that participated in the pilot will share their experiences of the benefits and challenges of the Learning Environment.
