Project
Intensive medical rehabilitation guidance – Assessment of the current situation and future developments
Project sponsors
The main
objective of this project is to promote the appropriate and effective
implementation of Kela's intensive medical rehabilitation guidance for family
members or other persons close to the clients. This main objective is supported
by the following sub-objectives:
1. To investigate the benefits of
guidance in intensive medical rehabilitation and the need for their development
as experienced by family members or other persons close to clients, as well as
by therapists.
2. To develop and evaluate the
operating methods of the service system related to guidance.
3. To propose how the developed
operating methods can be implemented as widely as possible in intensive medical
rehabilitation for different client groups.
The project
will be implemented in three phases. The first phase consists of a multi-method study, including interviews and a survey of the family members or
other persons close to clients, as well as therapists involved in Kela's intensive medical rehabilitation. The second
phase will involve co-development workshops in which operating methods related
to guidance will be brainstormed and developed based on the information
obtained in the first phase, together with therapists, family members or other
persons close to clients, and Kela experts. The project team will use the ideas
generated through co-development to form two draft solutions. In the third
phase, we will hold a webinar open to everyone, where we will present the
preliminary results of the project to a panel of experts and a wide range of
stakeholder representatives for evaluation and comment. The project will be
evaluated during its implementation through developmental evaluation, which
aims to help the project achieve its objectives.
The project
will be implemented by the Institute of Rehabilitation of Jamk University
of Applied Sciences between October 1, 2025, and December 31, 2027. The project
is funded by Kela.
