Project description
In Kela's work try-out rehabilitation service, a personal coach supports clients in identifying a suitable job task or field of study and in assessing its suitability through practical workplace-based try-out experiences. The work-out rehabilitation service was launched at the beginning of 2025.
The aim of this study is to produce comprehensive, in-depth, and multi-perspective knowledge that addresses Kela's information needs regarding the implementation, functioning, and development needs of the work try-out rehabilitation service.
Our research questions are:
1. How is referral to the work try-out service implemented, and how well does the referral process function?
2. What are the characteristics of the work try-out service client group, and how do these relate to the service as designed?
3. How is the work try-out service implemented, and how effectively does it function?
4. Which aspects of the implementation of the work try-out service are perceived as beneficial?
We examine the work try-out service from the perspectives of clients, service providers, and referring organizations. The study employs a mixed-methods research approach. Our data consist of surveys, individual and group interviews, and audio and video recordings of authentic rehabilitation encounters.
The study is conducted by the Institute of Rehabilitation and Social Services at JAMK University of Applied Sciences between 1 March 2025 and 28 February 2027. The project is funded by Kela.
