Project
AIMO – AI + Music = Opportunities
Project sponsors
Artificial intelligence is transforming the world, including the music industry. However, there is a lack of curated, research-based information in Finnish, as well as free and up-to-date training on AI's possibilities in the field. This gap in knowledge and education could slow down the industry's development in an increasingly globalized and evolving world. To effectively harness AI, the music industry needs relevant information and expertise in areas such as music creation, production, sales, marketing, and education. Currently, there is no organization systematically compiling and disseminating this knowledge.
The objective of this project is to elevate the AI expertise of Finnish music professionals to a globally competitive level. The project explores AI's applications from various perspectives and promotes knowledge-sharing on a national scale. Additionally, it aims to enhance the integration of AI in music education, support innovation, and strengthen industry networks. Another key goal is to improve employment and business opportunities in the sector while advocating for the responsible and sustainable use of AI.
Project results
As a result of the project, awareness of AI's possibilities in the Finnish music industry will increase significantly, and professionals will begin utilizing the most effective AI solutions. New innovations – such as products and services – will emerge through enhanced AI expertise, and collaboration between different sectors of the music industry will be strengthened. Ethical and ecological considerations related to AI will also be better understood, equipping industry professionals with the knowledge to use AI responsibly.
The project's impact will extend widely across the music industry and its future development. AI's potential will be recognized and integrated into music creation, education, and distribution. Increased expertise will enhance the global competitiveness of Finnish music professionals. The resulting innovations and education models will become a permanent part of the industry, while new business opportunities may boost employment. In particular, independent musicians and small business owners will gain practical tools to develop their operations and adapt to a changing market.
The project will also enhance awareness of AI-related copyright, ethical, and ecological issues, ensuring that industry professionals can use AI in a responsible manner. At the same time, it will foster collaboration and create new partnerships across Finland. All project materials and publications will remain openly accessible, ensuring a lasting impact beyond the project's completion. Additionally, the ideas generated may inspire future development initiatives and strengthen Finland's position as a leader in music and technology.
