In 2025, the number of Jamk students exceeded 10,000. The number of graduates reached a new record: a total of 2,206 new alumni graduated from Jamk. In 2025, the foundation for the Jyväskylä higher education group began to take shape, as the University of Jyväskylä became the majority owner of Jamk at the beginning of 2026. Growth, Competition and Partnership

2025 was a year of strong performance and forward-looking change for Jamk. The number of students exceeded 10,000. In RDI activities and service sales, Jamk remains among the national leaders. In 2025, the foundation for the Jyväskylä higher education group was also established, writes Rector Vesa Saarikoski.

Growth in education and quality at Jamk University of Applied Sciences is ensured through the systematic development of educational processes. Study pathways are streamlined, guidance is strengthened, and pedagogy is continuously renewed. The aim is accessible, learner-centred and working-life-oriented university of applied sciences pedagogy. Education is led through data and broad-based collaboration, and the pedagogical competence of staff is continuously strengthened. Deepening cooperation with working life supports both students’ employability and the positive development of regional vitality.

Over One Million Euros for Research on Artificial Intelligence and Management

A research group at Jamk University of Applied Sciences begins a joint project on artificial intelligence and management in autumn 2025 together with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and the University of Vaasa. The project runs from 1 September 2025 to 30 August 2027, with a total budget exceeding one million euros.

Sustainable Development and Responsibility

Jamk reduces its carbon footprint and increases its positive handprint. The carbon footprint is calculated annually, and the Sustainable and Responsible Jamk roadmap guides sustainability in education, RDI activities and leadership. We promote sustainable mobility and take responsibility into account in areas such as recycling, procurement and catering. We are a Fairtrade University.
