Diploma of Higher Education ("Korkeakouludiplomi") was a national pilot project which aimed to develop structured competence modules that consists of parts of degrees. The pilot investigated the needs of working life for new modules narrower in scope than existing degrees and how they best meet the needs of students with various backgrounds.
JAMK was the only UAS in Finland to be granted an appropriation for the pilot by the Ministry of Education and Culture. JAMK’s task was to build a model of Diploma of Higher Education. The pilot was proposed by Education Development Group, appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Purpose of the project
- To strengthen extensive competence modules in the offering of the Open Studies of Applied Sciences
- To determine what kind of university-level competence and modules narrower in scope than an entire degree in various fields are needed by customers and work communities to develop their operations
- To build and further specify the roles and customer relationships of educational institute, university and corporate partners
- To carry out the first pilot education projects in the fields of business administration, technology and health care and social services
- To publish a follow-up and assessment report.
