The objective of the education is to respond to the growing challenges of cyber security.

After completing the studies you will have gained a general overview of cyber security and will know all about the essential technologies related to cyber security. You will know the legislation and regulations of cyber security and will be able to audit a cyber security system. You will also know the technical methods of security testing and can implement your knowledge for real-life test cases. You will know the methods used to implement cyber security and will be able to apply your knowledge to information systems.

Cyber security education is supported by the modern data network laboratory which is in the use of the ICT education as well as projects. Laboratory for cyber security development and research will be built to increase versatile knowledge of field.

Cyber security threat applies foremost to different mutually dependent data networks, like internet and telephone networks. The target of the threat can also be networked information systems and embedded computers and control systems in production environments. In practice, cyber security threat nowadays applies almost to all different types information systems and applications which are connected to networks and control for instance energy distribution, payment and money transfer, logistic systems, food supplies and health care.

The key contents of the education

Your studies includes advanced professional studies, elective studies, as well as the master’s thesis or a working life development assignment. The studies consist of courses and the wider competence areas.

Professional studies

  • Security Management in Cyber Domain, 5 credits
  • Auditing and Testing Technical Security, 5 credits
  • Cyber Security Implementation in Practice, 10 credits
  • Cyber Security Exercise, 5 credits

 Elective studies

  • Master Level optional studies, 5 credits

 Master thesis, 30 credits

In addition to that, the education deals with the general security activities in the field of ICT, legislation of the field and national security criteria. Theoretical contents include also the design, encryption and detection methods of data security.

During the education, the students will learn to find known and unknown vulnerabilities of information technology devices and to test data security. The students will also learn to defense against data security threats and to realize counter-measures.

Tuition fees

The tuition fee of Master's degree programme in Cyber Security is €9,000/academic year. The tuition fees concern mainly those students who are not citizens of EU/EEA area. Read more about tuition fees and scholarships
