Applying as a degree student for bachelor’s degrees via Open Study Path, autumn 2020

Who can apply?

One can apply through the Open Study Path to the following JAMK’s Bachelor's Degree programme conducted in English:

Anyone who has completed at least 55 ECTS credits worth of Open Studies in a Finnish UAS that can be recognized as part of the degree programme may apply via Open Study Path to become a degree student.

Studies completed in higher education institutions outside Finland are not accepted!

If you have completed Open Studies in Finnish language, it is possible to apply via Open Study path to JAMK's degree programmes conducted in Finnish. More information at avoimen AMKin väylä -pages.

Requirements for JAMK Open Study Path in a nutshell

  • Complete altogether at least 55 ECTS credits that can be recognized as part of the degree programme by 20 December 2020 at 3 PM
  • At least 30 ETCS has to be completed by 15 November 2020 at 3 PM (30/55 op)
  • Complete 3 ETCS worth of compulsory language studies (included in the 55 ECTS credits)
  • Applying for Purchasing and Logistics Engineering: Complete a mathematics course worth at least 3 ETCS (included in the 55 ECTS credits)

Studies completed at JAMK have to be registered by 20 December, 2020 at 3 PM. If the applicant has completed some/all studies at another UAS, the studies have to be registered by 20 December, 2020 and the applicant has to send a transcript to the Admission Services by 20 December, 2020 at 3 PM.

Notice also, that there can be only 10 ECTS credits worth of elective studies, and 20 ECTS credits can be accredited of the 55 credits.

Application as a degree student through Open Study Path is done in studyinfo.fi via a separate application form. The application period is 1 - 15 November 2020.

In addition to Open Study Path, an applicant can also apply via joint application to try to gain an admission. So, if you have completed 55 ECTS credits in a Finnish open university of applied sciences and you have an eligibility to higher education studies in Finland, you can fill both application forms. Student selection

The selection is based on the completed Open Studies, so one does not have to take part in the normal student selection process (joint application system).

Purchasing and Logistics Engineering: Students are selected based on the Open Studies grade point average (checked from open UAS transcript of records) in case there more are more applicants than available study places. 

The results of the student selection are announced by 27 November 2020 and the selection is conditional until the final transcript has been checked (55 credits and other requirements).

Please note, that you may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term. Find out more information about one study place per term provision and appealing from the end of this page.

Attachments

If you have completed your open studies at JAMK's Open UAS it is not necessary to send a transcript of records to JAMK's admission services. Remember that you need to have completed at least 30 ETCS (open studies) by 15 November 2020 at 3 PM and altogether 55 ECTS credits (open studies) by 20 December at 3 PM.

If you have completed your studies in some other Open UAS than JAMK, attach your transcript of records of at least 30 ETCS by 15 November 2020 at 3 PM and the final transcript of records of at least 55 ETCS by 20 December 2020 at 3 PM, to the application. The transcript must be official transcript.

Notice! It is not necessary to provide an English Language Proficiency certificate while applying via Open Study Path.

Accepting the study place

The student selection is announced by 27 November 2020 and the offered study place must be confirmed by 4 December 2020 at 3 PM. Please note, that the selection is conditional until the final study record of Open UAS is checked. In case the applicant does not fullfil the selection criteria of the Open Study Path, the selection will be cancelled.

Tuition fees

Tuition fee for non-EU/EEA citizens is 8 000 €/year for the Bachelor’s degree programmes. More information concerning who is required to pay the fees and about the scholarship programme.

Applying as a degree student for master's degrees via Open Study Path, autumn 2020

Who can apply?

This selection criteria concerns the following Master’s degree degree programmes at JAMK: 

Thus, it is not possible to apply via Open Study Path to other Master’s Degree programmes at JAMK in autumn's Open Study Path application.

The Open Study Path for master’s degree does not exempt applicants from the degree and work experience requirements. Consequently, all applicants applying via Open Study Path still need to have a required bachelor's level degree (stated in the entrance requirements for each degree programme), and at least two years (24 months) of relevant work experience gained after the bachelor's degree.

In case you do not have a higher education qualification from the relevant field, you can also gain eligibility with some other suitable higher education qualification, Finnish vocational college diploma or a Finnish higher vocational diploma. Applicants who apply with any other degree than with the relevant higher education degree specified above, are considered case-by-case based by their educational background and work experience.

The requirements for JAMK Open Study Path in a nutshell

  • Anyone who fulfills the degree and work requirements

    AND

  • who has completed at least 30 ECTS credits (International Business Management, Sport Business Management) worth of Open Studies that can be recognized as part of the degree programme, may apply to become a degree student via Open Study Path.
  • From total 30 ETCS, 15 ETCS has to be completed by 15 November 2020 at 3 PM. (15/30 ETCS)

The credits can be completed in any Finnish Open UAS in a corresponding programme. ECTS can also be accredited from other studies, in case they are suitable for the degree programme in question.

If you have a bachelor's degree which is not completed in a Finnish UAS/University and/or your work experience is completed outside Finland you need to send the following documents to JAMK’s Admission Services:
• an official open UAS transcript of records 
• a copy of the bachelor’s degree certificate
• copies of work certificates after the bachelor’s degree
 
Only those applicant’s applications will be processed who have completed studies in open UAS in Finland, and fill the degree and work experience requirements, thus are eligible.

One study place per term provision

A student may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree during one academic term.

• Higher education degrees are Bachelor degrees and Master degrees awarded by universities, and Bachelor degrees and Master degrees awarded by polytechnics/UAS.
• The academic term (from 1 August to 31 December OR 1 January to 31 July) is the set framework for implementation.
• Even if the student postpones the starting of studies for one year, or interrupts his/her studies, that student cannot accept another study place for a degree programme starting in the same academic term.

Appeal

Appeal can be made, if applicant can demonstrate satisfactorily that an error was made by the authority in the university of applied sciences in evaluation of the applicant according to the rules and regulations of the admission process.

Appeal based on personal circumstances (difficult life situation, misunderstanding, health reasons) or e.g. possible errors made by post offices and so on will not be considered as valid reasons for appeal. Student admission decision can be changed only in those cases where it is clearly shown that the UAS has not followed the student admission criteria. Therefore, the appeal must be well-grounded and it should contain accurate information on where the UAS has not followed the criteria.

Applicants not satisfied with the decision may appeal in writing to the address below within 14 days of receiving the notification of the decision (the email). The notification date of the decision (the date on this letter) is not included in the 14-day appeal period. The UAS is not responsible of possible delays in postal delivery and therefore, the above mentioned time frame applies even if the post is not received within the mentioned time frame.
