Who can apply?

This selection criteria concerns the following Master’s degree degree programmes at JAMK: 

Thus, it is not possible to apply via Open Study Path to other Master’s Degree programmes at JAMK in autumn's Open Study Path application.

The Open Study Path for master’s degree does not exempt applicants from the degree and work experience requirements. Consequently, all applicants applying via Open Study Path still need to have a required bachelor's level degree (stated in the entrance requirements for each degree programme), and at least two years (24 months) of relevant work experience gained after the bachelor's degree. An applicant can count in work experience from the field of the degree until 31 December 2021. 

In case you do not have a higher education qualification from the relevant field, you can also gain eligibility with some other suitable higher education qualification, Finnish vocational college diploma or a Finnish higher vocational diploma. Applicants who apply with any other degree than with the relevant higher education degree specified above, are considered case-by-case based by their educational background and work experience. If applicant have a prior education degree and at least two years (24 months) work experience after that on that case the education degree used in the application must be completed until 27 December 2021.

Requirements for JAMK Open Study Path

  • Anyone who fulfills the degree and work requirements

    AND

  • who has completed at least 20 ECTS credits (Full Stack Software Development) worth of Open Studies that can be recognized as part of the degree programme, may apply to become a degree student via Open Study Path.
  • From total 20 ETCS, 10 ETCS has to be completed by 15 November 2021. (10/20 ETCS)

The credits can be completed in any Finnish Open UAS in a corresponding programme. ECTS can also be accredited from other studies, in case they are suitable for the degree programme in question.

Application as a degree student through Open Study Path is done in studyinfo.fi via a separate application form. The application period is 1 - 15 November 2021.

Student selection

The selection is based on the Open Studies, so one does not have to take part in the normal student selection process (joint application system) or participate to an entrance examination.

The results of the student selection are announced by 26 November 2021 and the selection is conditional until the final transcript has been checked (20 credits and other requirements).

Attachments

If you have completed your open studies at JAMK's Open UAS it is not necessary to send a transcript of records to JAMK's admission services. Please remember that you need to have completed at least 10 ETCS (open studies) by 15 November 2021 and altogether 20 ECTS credits (open studies) by 20 December at 3 PM.

If you have completed your studies in some other Open UAS than JAMK, please attach your transcript of records of at least 10 ETCS by 15 November 2021 and the final transcript of records of at least 20 ETCS by 20 December 2021 at 3 PM, to the application. The transcript must be official transcript.

If you have a bachelor's degree which is not completed in a Finnish UAS/University and/or your work experience is completed outside Finland you need to send the following documents to JAMK’s Admission Services:
• an official open UAS transcript of records 
• a copy of the bachelor’s degree certificate
• copies of work certificates after the bachelor’s degree
 
Only those applicant’s applications will be processed who have completed studies in open UAS in Finland, and fill the degree and work experience requirements, thus are eligible.

Accepting the study place

The results of the student selection are announced by 26 November 2021 and the selection is conditional until the final transcript has been checked (20 credits and other requirements).

Please note, that you may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term. Find out more information about one study place per term provision and appealing from the end of this page.

The offered study place must be confirmed by 3 December 2021 by 3 PM. 

Tuition fees

Tuition fee for non-EU/EEA citizens is 9 000 €/year for the Master’s degree programmes. More information concerning who is required to pay the fees and about the scholarship programme.

One study place per term provision

A student may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree during one academic term.

• Higher education degrees are Bachelor degrees and Master degrees awarded by universities, and Bachelor degrees and Master degrees awarded by polytechnics/UAS.
• The academic term (from 1 August to 31 December OR 1 January to 31 July) is the set framework for implementation.
• Even if the student postpones the starting of studies for one year, or interrupts his/her studies, that student cannot accept another study place for a degree programme starting in the same academic term.

Appeal

Appeal can be made, if applicant can demonstrate satisfactorily that an error was made by the authority in the university of applied sciences in evaluation of the applicant according to the rules and regulations of the admission process.

Appeal based on personal circumstances (difficult life situation, misunderstanding, health reasons) or e.g. possible errors made by post offices and so on will not be considered as valid reasons for appeal. Student admission decision can be changed only in those cases where it is clearly shown that the UAS has not followed the student admission criteria. Therefore, the appeal must be well-grounded and it should contain accurate information on where the UAS has not followed the criteria.

Applicants not satisfied with the decision may appeal in writing to the address below within 14 days of receiving the notification of the decision (the email). The notification date of the decision (the date on this letter) is not included in the 14-day appeal period. The UAS is not responsible of possible delays in postal delivery and therefore, the above mentioned time frame applies even if the post is not received within the mentioned time frame.
