Choosing an entrance examination country at 2020

You have a possibility to choose the country in which you would like to complete the entrance examination. Thus, in the application form there is a question "in which country do you want to complete the entrance examination(s) organised by the FINNIPS network?".

In China, Russia and Vietnam the exams are arranged in two cities. You can choose between the cities after selecting the country in the application form. You can confirm your choice of CITY in China, Russia or Vietnam after you receive the invitation for the entrance examination by email in the end of February.

Notice that based on your answer (you can choose only one option) you receive an invitation letter to this particular COUNTRY. You can change your exam country selection until 29 Jan 2020 by sending an email to your first-choice UAS Admission Services. After this date, the requests to change the country are not taken into consideration.

Please note that if you are planning to take the exam outside your own country of residence, you should check whether you need a visa to enter the exam country and whether visas are granted for exam purposes. It is the applicants’ own responsibility to take care of acquiring the required permits and it is recommended to do it before making other travel arrangements. Some embassies may have a general policy of not granting visas for entrance exam purposes.

Note, that all UAS' degree programmes are not members of the FINNIPS network. The list of co-operating degree programmes, FINNIPS network’s member UAS, and more information can be found at

Selection Between Applicants with Equal Admission Scores

In cases of equal admission scores, JAMK's applicants will be ranked on the following grounds in the final selection:

  1. points awarded for the entrance examination

If the above mentioned criteria fail to produce a difference between tied applicants, they will be automatically ranked by a computerised lottery.

If you live outside EU or EEA, you need to apply for a residence permit before leaving for Finland. It is recommended to do so without a delay at the nearest Finnish consulate or embassy after getting the notice of acceptance letter.

Please note! The precondition for obtaining a residence permit is that you have a valid health insurance coverage with a reliable and solvent company or institution. Further information can be found on the website of the Finnish Immigration Service.

Original Degree Certificates

The final original senior secondary school certificates will be checked at the Student Services at the beginning of the studies. So remember to take those with you before you leave from your homecountry! Please remember that your admission is conditional until your relevant original certificates have been checked. The polytechnic/UAS may withdraw the admission if an applicant has given false information or has forged document(s).
