Project description
The SIX ManuGenius project explores the possibilities and limitations of Generative Artificial Intelligence in the manufacturing industry. Business-driven research on generative AI is essential for the implementation of the dual transition. The EU and Finland aim to be strategic leaders in AI.SIX ManuGenius brings together Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), Tampere University (TAU), Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (JAMK), Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Savonia), University of Oulu (OY), and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK), as well as Into Seinäjoki and Business Tampere, along with the research expertise of participating companies.
The project's objectives are as follows:
- To produce a roadmap supporting the use of generative AI for the SME sector, highlighting the potential and limitations of generative AI in manufacturing and production chains.
- o produce validated research data on the application of generative AI in manufacturing through company pilots.
- To support and promote the more efficient use of research laboratories by SMEs in SIX ManuGenius network.
- International profiling. Promoting extensive follow-up projects and strengthening international ties in research.
The project's actions are as follows:
WP1 To produce a generative AI roadmap for the SME sector.
WP2 To produce company-driven pilots to illustrate the benefits and risks of generative AI in manufacturing.
WP 3 To create a cross-regional SIX ManuGenius network and service offering to support the more efficient use of research laboratories.
WP 4 Communication and national and international cooperation.
WP5 Steering group work, workshops, and promotion of project themes.
The target group of the project is manufacturing companies, with a focus on the SME sector.
SIX ManuGenius is a project co-funded by the European Union, with the South Savo ELY Centre as the funding authority.
