Finnish Future Farm

The Bioeconomy Campus becomes a centre of expertise and meeting place for Smart Agriculture: the Finnish Future Farm project brings together new smart farming technologies, national and international networks, funding and solutions in Saarijärvi, Central Finland.

The Bioeconomy Campus is developing as an international smart agriculture co-creation environment and competence cluster, Finnish Future Farm. Achieving the goals of climate-neutral European Union requires introduction of new precision farming technologies. In co-operation with partner corporations, such as Valtra, AGCO Power and Neste, solutions related to emission reduction, for example, are tested. Experts and students in the educational institutions, as well as strong co-operation with the City of Saarijärvi, farmers and stakeholders, support achieving common goals.

Throughout its history, the Bioeconomy Campus has been a pioneer in teaching and developing sustainable and profitable agriculture. The region's business activities are renewed and competitiveness strengthened when Finnish Future Farm engages the best experts, financing and investors in smart agriculture to participate in development activities. The BioBoosters by Jamk accelerator ecosystem creates a startup community and supports sustainable business based on new innovations also within smart agriculture.

The physical environment of Poke's farm will be complemented by the Farm's Digital Twin created in the project, which will provide an opportunity to continuously test farming environments to support physical measurements carried out during the growing season. The experimentation and demonstration environment, which will be utilised by the partner network, combines data economy and precision farming technologies and methods.

Experimental environment and Farm’s Digital Twin

A comprehensive demonstration and experimentation environment for smart agriculture will be built in the Bioeconomy Campus, enabling extensive business co-operation. Alongside this physical Smart Farm, a virtual development environment, the Digital Twin of the Farm, will be created, which will utilise data produced in the physical environment and on partner farms. Smart farm operations focus on growing seasons, while Digital Twin offers the opportunity to make simulations continuously.

Competence development and knowledge management

The information processed from the data creates a basis for making decisions about agricultural enterprises and detecting new business benefits. Knowledge-based management model that utilises smart agriculture responds to the challenge by creating flexible and scalable training to support new precision farming methods and technological solutions for companies and farmers. At the same time, a learning co-creation community and an international network of agrotechnology experts and experts are built.

Smart Agriculture Startup Community and Partner Ecosystem

In the Finnish Future Farm project, BioBoosters by Jamk will create an international co-operation network and accelerator ecosystem for smart agriculture and bioeconomy in the Bioeconomy Campus. The partner network promotes digital innovations and competitiveness in agriculture, and brings together experts, startups, funding and investors to develop climate-neutral solutions and generate new business.
