Game Meet Ups
- Game Meet Ups are open to students in vocational education and universities of applied sciences.
- You can just pop in according to your own schedule to play board and digital games, meet other students, project staff, and guest experts. Every Game Meet Up is a safe space and community for students to connect.
- At Game Meet Ups, you will have the opportunity to influence future Meet Up content and visiting guest experts. You can also participate in ideating and implementing the From Loneliness to Togetherness campaign.
- Game Meet Ups are organised once a month during the academic year.
Skills Training Group
- The Skills Training Group is intended for students in vocational education and universities of applied sciences.
- The group plays together with the support from a game coach - the games are chosen based on the group’s interests (e.g. Counter-Strike, Valorant, League of Legends, Apex Legends).
- No prior gaming experience is required to participate in the group.
- In addition to playing, you get to practice emotional skills, distress tolerance, stress management, and communication skills through community-based gaming.
- Before the group starts, participants will complete an initial discussion of the personal goals for the group.
- The Skills Training Group lasts for 8 weeks and meets once a week. Depending on the group implementation, there are options for either in-person or online groups. There are groups in English, in Finnish and in mixed language. The language of the group is mentioned in the ad for each group.
- Participation in the groups is free of charge.
Student Development Forum
- The Student Development Forum is aimed at motivated and enthusiastic students eager to help develop our Game Meet Ups — an activity concept aimed at students in vocational schools and universities of applied sciences.
- The Forum will meet up four times during the academic year at Jamk’s GamePit Pro gaming space (Rajakatu 35, Jyväskylä).
- Meetings include snacks, good company and inspiring discussions.
- The goal is to reduce loneliness and strengthen a sense of community through playing different games and meeting people.
- The initiative also works to break the stigma around loneliness.
- Additionally, you will have the opportunity to take part in the project’s steering group.
