What is digital rehabilitation?

Rehabilitation is generally known as a systematic process, guided by a professional, who listens to and supports the client. Rehabilitation can be sought when, for example, an illness or disability affects the ability to cope independently in everyday life at different stages of life. However, not everyone has the opportunity to access or receive rehabilitation when they need it most.

Today's technology offers many opportunities to use digital technology in rehabilitation, and this is called digital rehabilitation. This includes not only the already familiar remote rehabilitation, but also other digital services and solutions that can be used at different stages of rehabilitation, either by the client or by professionals. At the heart of digital rehabilitation is a person-centred approach: the planning of use is always based on the needs and wishes of the client himself, respecting his values and choices. For example, digital rehabilitation can remind, motivate, and encourage along the rehabilitation journey, giving the client more freedom than traditional rehabilitation to promote their own rehabilitation in their own everyday environment, when it suits them best.
