Student Union JAMKO

The Student Union on Jamk University of Applied Sciences JAMKO is the statutory guardian and service provider of Jamk's students. Master’s degree students can also join the student union and receive an official student card.

The membership of the student union offers its members all national and local benefits, diverse leisure opportunities, events and trips, as well as JAMKO's own, low-cost café services. With a valid student card, you get student discounts on even unexpected everyday expenses, such as various services and hobbies, from VR and in bus traffic and restaurants. Members can supplement the benefits of the physical student card with a digital student card through a smartphone.

You become a member electronically through JAMKO's website.

You can get an official student card through the Student Union.

JAMKO membership is the key to all student benefits

By becoming a member of the student union, you will receive an official student card, which proves that you are a student at the University of Applied Sciences. As a member of JAMKO, you get both national and locally negotiated student benefits such as

  • a wide range of benefits from our partners on services and purchases
  • student-priced lunch and other discounts in restaurants
  • travel benefits on National Railway (VR) and long-distance bus transport
  • local benefits include a free gym on the main campus
  • cheaper events and trips to Lapland and Lofoten organized by the student union
  • and much more.

You can get a digital membership card through either the Slice or Kide.app apps at no extra cost. You can also purchase a plastic student card for a fee. You can use both at the same time to maximize the benefits.

Take into consideration that if you are a student in Open UAS, study paths or Professional Teacher training, or a student pursuing any other non-degree education, the student card does not entitle you to Kela’s meal subsidy or student discounts for VR, Matkahuolto and local transport.

How can I get a student card?

The blue membership and student card granted by JAMKO is available to degree students and international exchange students who are enrolled as attending students at Jamk and have joined as members of JAMKO.

JAMKO membership is also a possibility for a student of Jamk open university, open university route or professional teacher education, or a student pursuing any other non-degree education, in the form of a green membership. You can read details about JAMKO’s green membership from their website.

You can purchase a membership either on a per-semester basis or for multiple academic years at once. The digital card is automatically updated after membership renewal and the plastic card is updated with a membership sticker attached to it.

You become a member electronically via the JAMKO website. You can get help with membership matters at the JAMKO office or at the member service points on all campuses in the autumn.

You can find detailed instructions and membership prices on JAMKO's website.
