Jamk’s main campus will be filled with experiences in science, technology, wellbeing and creativity on Friday 25 September, when Researchers’ Night arrives at Rajakatu from 15:00 to 22:00. The free event offers visitors of all ages an opportunity to explore research, development and innovation activities in a practical, participatory and inspiring way.
Try, explore and ask – science in action on the programme
Researchers’ Night will take place at Jamk’s main campus from 15:00 to 22:00. The programme includes workshops, experiments, exhibitions, expert lectures and opportunities to explore laboratory environments.
Visitors can try out virtual reality, robotics, cybersecurity tasks and participatory wellbeing activities, among other things. The programme also introduces the possibilities of artificial intelligence, the circular economy, biodiversity, physical activity, new technologies in agriculture, game and XR technologies, fascinating microalgae, thin-film research, and the monitoring of water and district heating processes.
At the event, you can consider ways to consume more sustainably, test your engineering design skills, learn about the safe and ecological use of mobile technologies, and see a mobile robot and a researcher’s digital twin supporting research. You will also learn how exoskeletons can make heavy work lighter, how to protect yourself from cyber criminals, and what a child’s dream day or a family superpower could look like.
For the youngest visitors, the programme includes Musatossut dance activities, game-based wellbeing tasks, and active and creative activities. You can also grow a virtual plant through everyday choices, explore how artificial intelligence recognises bird sounds, and discover what migratory birds can tell us about changes in the environment.
During the event, Juvenes restaurant services will also be available indoors, so visitors can stop for coffee or enjoy other refreshments during their visit.
City of Light also at the main campus
The Jyväskylä City of Light event will also begin on the same evening. Jamk is taking part in the City of Light with the Let’s Draw light installation built at the main campus. Let your creativity flow and take part in creating the installation!
During the City of Light event, Juvenes Food Truck will also serve visitors in the main campus yard, offering snacks and refreshments on event evenings.
Researchers’ Night is part of a Europe-wide science event that aims to bring researchers, research and innovations closer to citizens. The event is open to everyone and admission is free.
