The Armoured Brigade is leading the Mighty Stronghold 26 local defence exercise in the regions of Central Finland, Pirkanmaa, Päijät-Häme and Kanta-Häme from 31 August to 4 September 2026. The exercise is part of a series of local defence exercises conducted by the Finnish Army twice a year in different parts of Finland.
As part of the exercise, Armoured Brigade troops, together with other authorities, will operate and train on the Jamk University of Applied Sciences campus on Rajakatu.
The exercise units include military personnel and representatives of other authorities who will move in and around the training areas on foot and in vehicles while wearing combat gear. Personnel acting as exercise targets may be dressed in civilian clothing.
To protect the privacy of military personnel and other authorities, exercise participants should not be photographed without permission.
Public Event on 3 September
A public event open to everyone will be held in connection with the exercise at the Rajakatu campus on Thursday, 3 September, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the Finnish Defence Forces, other authorities and national defence organisations. A mobile military canteen (Sotilaskoti) will also be present, offering traditional military canteen doughnuts for purchase. Admission to the event is free.
