New singers with the passion to create high quality choir music are always welcome to join our ranks! If you feel like there’s a hole in your life in the shape of a choir hobby, do contact us by sending us email and you might find yourself singing with us almost in the blink of an eye! You are also welcome to visit our rehearsals to see what it’s all about.

For those interested in joining us, we can arrange an audition, where a select few singers from the choir wish to hear you sing any piece of your own choosing with no accompaniment. We also want to chat about your background as a singer, and briefly test both your vocal range and your ear for music.

Note that even though Cantinovum is associated with Jamk, you don't need to be a Jamk student or music student to sing with us.

Our singers are expected to attend our rehearsals and live performances, and also be able to rehearse on their own. From the end of August until the end of May our weekly rehearsals take place Tuesday evening at 6 PM until 9.30 PM at the Jamk main campus at Rajakatu. In addition we have weekend-long rehearsal periods 2-3 times per semester.

Each year Cantinovum has about 3-5 bigger concerts, in most cases during Christmas and late Springtime, and a handful of smaller gigs, guest appearances in concerts and small sets in various festive occasions. From time to time we also work with Jyväskylä Sinfonia, and attend choir festivals in Finland and abroad.
