Tuition fees for non-EU/EEA citizens at JAMK University of Applied Sciences

​A new piece of legislation concerning tuition fees came into effect on 1 January 2016 in Finland. According to it universities and universities of applied sciences are obliged to charge tuition fees from students who are not citizens of countries of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) and who start their degree studies from 1 August 2017 onwards. The legislation concerns degree programmes taught in a foreign language.

The tuition fees at JAMK University of Applied Sciences are 8,000 €/academic year for bachelor's degrees and 9,000 €/academic year for master's degrees. The tuition fees are the same for all degree programmes, irrespective of how and where the studies are pursued. Half of the tuition fee for one academic year will be is charged for one semester of studies. The tuition fee entitles the student to study and receive a degree and to use the normal support services available to students. It must be paid for all semesters and academic years for which the student enrols as attending, including any extension period.  The obligation to pay tuition fees also pertains to double degree students who are non-EU/EEA citizens, but the amount of the tuition fee is defined in the double degree agreements.

Scholarship system

A student admitted to a degree programme at JAMK can apply for and receive a scholarship only for semesters for which they enroll as attending. For the first year of studies all non-EU/EEA students admitted are awarded a scholarships in the amount equal to 50 % of the tuition fee. In the following academic years the scholarship covers 50% of the tuition fee if a student earns at least 55 credits per academic year. The scholarship is only be provided for the standard study period (3.5 years for International Business & Nursing, 4 years for International Logistics and 2 years Cyber Security).

The scholarship system does not pertain to double degree students. The amount of the scholarship is defined in the double degree agreements.
