EduCluster Finland's education deal forms a significant step to the Chinese market

JAMK's nurse education to be provided at Beihua University

In the future, nurses will also be trained in China in the name of JAMK University of Applied Sciences.

EduCluster Finland (ECF) and Beihua University signed a significant co-operation agreement regarding health care education in Beijing during the Asia delegation trip of Minister Krista Kiuru. This ten-year education-export agreement is a giant leap into the Chinese education market. Co-operation with Beihua University located in the Province of Jilin has been built over a long period of time.

The high quality of JAMK's education and the extended experience in the provision of nursing education in English made the agreement possible.

– Our education is highly appreciated internationally, and more than half of our students come from around the world, says Director of the JAMK School of Health and Social Studies Eila Latvala.

The nursing education will start next year.

– The main focus of the education will lie in promoting the well-being and health of families, but new kinds of online learning technologies are also of interest to the Chinese, Latvala adds.

The concrete start for the co-operation to be expanded later has now been agreed by signing an agreement for launching the health care project SINO-Finnish Running School where a group of 160 Chinese students will study according to a syllabus formed in Finnish–Chinese co-operation.  In the future, Chinese students will have the opportunity of studying in Jyväskylä for one year.

Beihua University also has an academic co-operation agreement with the University of Jyväskylä. An option in the agreement also includes expanding the co-operation to other key competence areas of JAMK and University of Jyväskylä, such as completing a Master's degree programme at the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Jyväskylä.
