Academic year's opening

Dear international students and staff members! One of the cornerstones of the current JAMK strategy is the international education. We will work hard to develop our international study programs to be attractive and competitive in the global markets. So far Finland has offered a tuition-free education for all foreign students, which will come to Finland as a degree or exchange student. In the Future this is expected change in the fall 2017 when there will be tuition fees for students coming outside EU/ETA-region. For compensation the universities should develop a system of grants and scholarships for the incoming foreign students.

Back to Campus: Opening of the Academic Year

JAMK University of Applied Sciences' academic year 2021 - 2022 opens with a live festival! The opening ceremony will be held this year exceptionally to all students of JAMK, also for those who started in previous years - and also to JAMK's staff. Back to Campus is an event for the whole JAMK community!

I and the student union JAMKO want to warmly wish you welcome here this afternoon.

I also want to congratulate all of you new fellow students for being selected into JAMK.

I want to wish you warmly welcome you all by the student union of Jyväskylä university of applied sciences into this JAMK opening. I want to also congratulate all of you my new fellow students for being selected.

Dear new students and members of our academic community! The academic year starts in a time of great challenges for the national and municipal economy and in global issues. Wars, conflicts and the poor security situation in Syria, Iraq and many other countries are driving an increasing number of asylum seekers and refugees to risk their lives in order to get to Europe. Based on the latest information, we are preparing to receive up to 15,000 asylum seekers this year. The escalating situation has created fertile ground for an increase in hate speech, discrimination and downright racism. We must reject this kind of development.
