Simon – hockey and studying

I am Simon Kostner, 20 years old, from Italy. I came to Finland in August 2008 to play hockey for JYP. This is the first reason why I am staying in Finland. In 2009 I started to study in JAMK as an open studies’ student. Now this is my third year in Finland and my second year as a student.

International Business studies

I have studied International Business in Open studies. Now I continued to the second year as a normal degree student.

I chose open studies because it was too late to enter the application for the normal studies. Like that I didn’t lose a year of doing nothing.

Next: graduation, work and sport

To be a student in Open studies was just like being a degree student. Only exception was that you had to pay for studies. By having studied one year already in open studies it was pretty easy to pass the entrance exam the next year. Now, I am planning to graduate in a few years and then start to work. But I will still first follow my sport.

Open studies are good for everybody. People who don’t manage to get in the entrance exams, people who would just like to learn something more, about some programs or courses. This was a good opportunity for me!
