Electronic Resources
Terms of Use
JAMK’s students, teachers, and other staff may use the electronic resources provided by the library with any computer connected to JAMK’s network. Remotely it is possible when logged in to the Nelli portal or through the Remote Desktop. The visitors of JAMK’s libraries have access to the electronic resources through the computers located in the libraries.
The terms of use for each electronic resource are defined in their respective licences, and the users must conform to them.
General guidelines for the use of JAMK’s electronic resources are presented below. However, read always individual licences that are listed on the Nelli portal under each resource (click Information). See also Copyright in Finland.
What is allowed

browsing and information retrieval

printing reasonable amounts of retrieved sets for personal study or research purposes

copying (to a disk or USB memory stick, etc.) reasonable amounts of retrieved sets for personal study or research purposes

eBooks and extensive full-text materials: printing/saving modest excerpts for personal study and research purposes (i.e. not the whole book, and not for commercial purposes)

sending one copy of an article by e-mail, mail or fax for the personal use of one individual, as a form of scientific communication
What is not allowed

using all or any part of licensed materials for commercial purposes

presenting original materials (e.g. articles) on a course website

printing or copying entire books (eBooks or large full-text materials)

distributing, selling, editing licensed materials to unauthorized users

systematic production of prints or electronic copies of multiple extracts of materials for any purpose

removing or altering authors' names, publisher's copyright notices, or other copyright management information, identification or disclaimers as they appear in the licensed materials
-
installing or distributing any part of licensed materials on any electronic network other than JAMK’s network (e.g. Internet, World Wide Web)
-
using computer programs that automatically download licensed material (such as web robots, spiders, crawlers, wanderers or accelerators)
