The eBook collection of the JAMK library is extensive, there are thousands of titles! eBook services are accessible in JAMK's network, and remotely when logged in to the Nelli portal or through the Remote Desktop.

Search electronic course books via the Nelli portal. There are also Open Access books, i.e. they are available for free. More specific instructions are listed under each resource (click Information).

eBook Instructions

Dawsonera

eBooks will be purchased according to teachers’ requests, there are over 100,000 titles available. At the moment topics include information technology, business and tourism. All Dawsonera eBooks are also on the JaNet library database.

Access Dawsonera via the Nelli portal or directly on a book you searched on the JaNet library database:

• Click on "Enter your institutional username and password login". Choose JAMK University of Applied Sciences Library. Then log in with your personal JAMK network username and password.
• Agree the terms (asked only on the first log in).
• Search for books by using quick search or advanced search, including the existing JAMK collection or all available books (Include not owned).
• There are almost 95 000 books in the eBook catalogue. You can preview the books (5 minutes per book) by choosing “Include ebooks available to preview”. Without the selection only the eBooks already purchased to JAMK well be shown.
• Book rental is also possible for a short time.
• You can also save eBooks to your computer or other devices for 24 hours (only the JAMK collection books).
• Please remember to log out by clicking Logout.

How to rent eBooks: JAMK students and staff can rent (Request rental) Dawsonera eBooks for 1-3 weeks subject to the price. Default rental period is one week. When requesting a rental, inform the library why you need it (Comments). A rental book is for personal use only. Library staff will accept requests as soon as possible. If there are more than one rental request per a title, the library considers purchasing it to JAMK’s eBook collection.

Certain publishers don't allow rentals of their eBooks. Please find here a list of these publishers: Ashgate Publishing Ltd, Chapman (Paul) Publishing Ltd, Dawsonera,Greenwood Publishing Group, Ib Tauris & Co Ltd, IGI Global, McGraw Hill Special, McGraw-Hill USA, Palgrave Special, Pearson Education,Rowman & Littlefield, Sage Publications Ltd, Sage Special ja Wit Press.

It is allowed to copy and paste not more than 5%, and print not more than 5% of any item taken from the licensed material.

ebrary

Discover thousands of full-text books in multiple academic and general interest subject areas, sheet music titles and reports. User identification is not needed, but a user name can be created in order to create a personal bookshelf (see more on Create a Personal Bookshelf). Ebrary Reader must be installed when using ebrary. For installation and instructions, see Get Ebrary Reader on the main page. Ebrary Reader is available for a variety of browsers on both Windows and Macintosh computers.
