Visual Media Narration
Theory and Analysis
Publications of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences 76/2008 Author(s): Jarmo Valkola
Publication info:
The filmmaker is a modern landscape painter, attentive to the duration of changing experiences of existentiality. The spectator brings in her mental space, and cognit-ively maps the narrative chain of events, and orders them in her mind to a logical outcome. Digital media operates as a form of narrative, and as a new strategy for organizing data about the world, which is characterized by fragments and pieces of information coming from diverse directions.
This book investigates the visual realm, and through this the author wants to offer an approach, which connects ideas from visual culture to film and media studies. The book is intended to scholars and students of cinema and media discourse.
