The research and development activities of JAMK focus on

• applied research, utilising scientific results to develop new practical applications, methods or problem-solving tools
• development work which utilises data to generate new substances, products, production processes or systems, or to improve existing ones
• basic research, chiefly referring to scientific research undertaken by the staff
