Pioneers of Responsible Business in Central Finland

Pioneers of Responsible Business in Central Finland was a regional project to develop the environmental, social and economic responsibility of companies. Small and medium-sized enterprises were the target group.

Objectives

The main goal was to create a model for how SMEs can integrate responsibility within their daily practices.

Deliveries and results

To obtain the results, the project group of company representatives and JAMK experts:

  1. Analysed the current state of responsibility
  2. Chose the focus and set the goals
  3. Made a detailed development plan
  4. Cooperated to execute the plan
  5. Cooperated to disseminate responsibility ideas to the stakeholders and also generated a positive atmosphere towards responsibility issues

In December 2010 a guidebook on responsible business for local businesses was published by the project team (in Finnish).

Period of implementation

The time of implementation was two years, 2009–2010. During the project period, workshops and seminars were organized wherein questions of responsibility and good practices were discussed and worked out.

Budget and financing

The budget for the project was 222 405 €. Financing came from the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Central Finland and from the European Social Fund (ESF).
