KORSI - Making Graduates’ Expertise a Competitive Asset for Central Finland

Objectives

The objectives of the KORSI project are to give visibility to the expertise offered by university graduates and to develop new, concrete ways in which employers and universities can cooperate. The project involves creating a new joint service concept for the career and recruitment services of the universities of Central Finland and developing tools for promoting the recognition and marketing of expertise.

The KORSI project will lead to closer cooperation and help to develop concrete operating concepts and tools with which the existing competence potential can be made to work for the benefit Central Finland and to facilitate the employment of graduates in the region.

We cooperate with the universities, enterprises, other labour market organisations and bodies whose aim is to develop the economy of the region.

The action involved in the project

1.New models for university cooperation with working life

• Creating new models for cooperation between regional employers and the universities; by means of these models recruitment will be made more flexible and the expertise provided by the universities put to more effective use.

2.Renewal/development of the universities’ career and recruitment services

• Developing a joint career and recruitment service concept for the universities of Central Finland to ensure that employers have a central channel through which they can reach competent graduates.
• Defining the career and recruitment processes of the various educational institutions and their role as part of the development mission of the universities.

3.Tools for promoting the recognition and marketing of expertise

• Providing employers with contacts and information about university graduates’ competencies.
• Creating tools with which graduates can describe their own competencies and market them to employers.
• Providing feedback on the competencies needed in working life and on the labour market in general, to support educational planning and guidance.
